We at Blue are always trying to educate ourselves and get better all of the time.  I came across this article that talks about motivation and what helps us succeed at work.  It talks about how there has been a shift from external to internal motivation, and what ways really motivated us.  Harvard University did a study on motivation with employees and determined that “the # 1 motivator for the employees was progress -the feeling that they were moving forward and achieving a greater goal.”  That certainly is  a great motivator and one we utilize here!

Kickball has begun!

This past Sunday everyone here at Blue, Inc. started off our 3rd annual kickball season in Chicago.  We all got to show our skills on the field, catching pop flies, kicking balls impossibly high that our opponents are unable to make the catch.  I was amazed at how fast some of our people were rounding the bases towards home plate and making crazy catches, but I guess that is the testament to our competitive nature at Blue.  It was a pretty close game against our opponents “Too Legit To Kick”, with our team scraping by with a final score of 5 to 4.  Our President Wrinardo made the game saving catch in the last inning, doing a somersault to keep the ball in his arms!  We are excited for our next game on Sunday– stay tuned to see by how much we won!

We have been talking a lot about our goals here at Blue, Inc.- what they are and how we are going to reach them.  I came across this article that talks about just that.  I know that for me, its not for the lack of having goals or a vision for my future that holds me back, its the follow through.  Finding that passion for your goals gives you the extra push that you need to accomplish what you put your mind to.  Its not enough to talk big about where you are going to go, you have to put those words into action!

We’ve been talking a lot about our goals lately here at Blue, Inc. and really how to make the most of them.  I came across this article that goes over not only setting goals, but also following through on them.  I feel like everyone has an idea of where they want to go and most of the steps to get there, but they lack the gusto to accomplish their goals in their entirety.  What I really like about the article is that it talks about finding passion in your goals, which is really important in finding the motivation to complete them..

Time Management: developing the skills

Time management is something I think everyone is constantly working on- I know I am for sure.  I came across this article talking about not only time management, but on ways of building the right habits.  The article talks about getting into the habit of reading to sharpen your mind and that will ultimately develop the right habits and get where you want to go.  I think that it is important to remember too that the changes don’t always happen overnight.  I think sometimes we all get used to having everything at the tip of our fingers, with the way technology is these days but developing the right habits and mentality takes some time.  It’s like what they say with musical artists, how they just come out of nowhere overnight. But in actuality,it took years of small gigs, playing open mic nights, trying everything they can to get a record deal and even then it can take a couple of years to get on the radio and really feel the success.  It takes some time to get where you want to go but once you get there, you know the journey was worth it.

Make small decisions to get big results

I was reading this series of posts on motivation and reaching goals, and I came upon this short post about making decisions.  It says that making tiny decisions everyday in the right direction will ultimately yield big results.  “Dale Carnegie courses teach their sales course graduates to make 5 new contacts per day. That’s it. It isn’t much but it makes a big difference. It may not always be fun but the rewards are always there. Far better than the long-term results of NOT making the calls!”  Doing one extra thing every day gets us closer to our goals, reading that development book, getting to the office 5 minutes sooner, just one extra thing over time gets you closer to the end result.  It may seem really simple, but doing these things helps keep people on their toes and prevents them from becoming stagnant.  To read more helpful tips like these, click here.
